Welcome Back Viking Band Families!
It’s the start of another school year and what an unusual school year it is, but an EXCITING year of music nonetheless!
Thank you for choosing to be part of this excellent band program. If this is your first year with us in band (both band member and family), you’re in for a great experience. The Redwood Middle School Viking Band is an accomplished, award-winning and top-notch group of student performers led by our band director, Mr. Adam Payne. He’s completing his 21st year of leading this program at Redwood Middle School and he continues to create a love of music and performance in his students.
Redwood Viking Band, Inc. (Booster Club) is the authorized 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization set up to fund and support the band program. Parents of the students enrolled in band are automatically members of this club. We call you “Pledge Partners” – because we’re all in this together and making it an excellent band experience for our children is what it’s all about! This organization is parent-led, meaning parents lead and serve on a board of directors to manage the band program. We need and welcome your involvement!
We will be hosting our Fall Parent Meeting on Thursday, September 17th at 7:00 PM via Zoom – please save the date! We will have plenty of people available to answer all of your questions!
Thank you again for your support!
Julie Lewis and Leonie Choy, Co-Presidents

Congratulations to the Redwood Viking Band and Color Guard for an outstanding performance at the Swallow’s Day Parade in San Juan Capistrano.
The Band took 1st place in the competition!!
Our Drum Major (Andrew Bergholtz) took 3rd place in the competition!!
If you want to see the Symphonic Band (Redwoods top Band) perform this week they will be playing in the TOHS Festival on Thursday in the TOHS Performing Arts Center at 6:15.
The video that follows is the official parade video. It is shot from the middle of the parade route. The Redwood Viking Band and Color Guard are about 1:11:26 into the video. Feel free to watch the entire video to compare how we did to the other bands in the parade. Thank you to Jill Shields for finding and sending me the link to the video.
Thank you to all the teachers, administrators, school staff, band staff, and band parents that make this amazing performance possible. Without all of you this would not be possible. It definitely takes a village. This is an amazing place to work!!
Musically yours,
Adam Payne
Director of Bands
